A series of explosions and a fire at Texaco refinery unit No 1 stabiliser in Port Arthur injured 26. Officials said helicopters were en route to transfer the seriously burned to Houston and Galveston hospitals as bad weather hampered rescue efforts. An Army MAST reserve unit prepared to fly doctors and equipment to Port Arthur for burn treatment work.
