Lynch Named Deer Park Head Football Coach

Ron Lynch, former REL assistant at Robert E. Lee High School, was named Deer Park head football coach after a month-long district search. Lynch previously led at Hillsdale and Olivet colleges in Michigan and Battle Creek Lakeview High School before moving to Baytown in 1982. The Deer Park School Board approved the hire in a special session to replace Wesley Frosch.

Baytown Trustees Finalize Superintendent Search Plan

Baytown school trustees approve sending letters inviting applicants for the superintendent post. Brochure materials, district printing, and ads in two national publications are planned with a March 15 mail/advertising deadline and a May 1 application cutoff. Pro Rodeo Set at Baytown Fairgrounds

The Baytown Youth Fair and Livestock Association will host a professional rodeo led by Johnny Ludtke. About 350 contestants from up to 20 states chase $25,000 in winnings in seven events including bull riding and barrel racing at the Baytown Fairgrounds March 15 to 17 at 8 p.m.

Rodeo Prices Set for Fair Week Parade and Auction

Rodeo tickets cost 3 for students and 3 percent for adults, with a 2 student and senior discount on March 15. Children aged six and under enter free. Entertainers include clowns Terry Professor Dickerson and Hockey Clark. The Ludike Fair begins March 10 with a 10 a.m. parade from Robert E Lee High School on Market Street. Pam Ivey will serve as parade marshal. The on ground carnival runs March 14 to 17 with livestock check in March 14 and the annual auction at 6 30 p.m. March 15 in the Exhibition Building.

Country Club Oaks Street Extensions OKd by City Panel

Baytown Planning Commission approved preliminary plans to extend and dedicate several streets in the Country Club Oaks subdivision including Alamance Burning Tree Iron Wood and St Andrews. The proposed Cynda Brook extension, named after Emmett Hutto’s daughter, must keep the Bush Road extension name per city rules. The panel also discussed a policy on granting both preliminary and final approvals in the same meeting and may grant exceptions case by case.
