Eldon Berry president of the Baytown Chamber of Commerce and James M. Cauley vice president of Citizens of Texas Savings and Loan Association were named Outstanding Citizens at the Distinguishing Service Awards Banquet. Berry earned the Outstanding Senior Citizen and Cauley the Outstanding Young Man of 1986 as nearly 100 attendees watched at the Tower venue.

Rites Held For 24 Year Resident William C Davis
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday for William Charles Davis 65 of 720 Cedar Bayou Road who died Friday morning in a Baytown hospital. A World War I veteran and former Humble Refining Co Baytown employee, he retired Sept 1 1966 after 24 years in Baytown. He lived in Baytown 24 years and is survived by his wife Minnie Belle, three daughters and seven grandchildren, with brothers and sisters listed. Memorial Baptist Church officiated with Earthman Funeral Home directing interment at San Jacinto Memorial Park Cemetery.

County Commissioners W. W Ramsey and Kyle Chapman backed immediate purchase of a small right of way between Missouri Street and West Main in Baytown to support a future State Highway 146 crossing. State and county would share costs 50 50. Officials foresee a full freeway from I 10 to the Gulf Freeway site north of Galveston. More than 155 guests from Kemah to Mont Belvieu attended a Holiday Inn luncheon led by La Porte Bay shore Chamber of Commerce.

Ten Baytown physicians relocate to the new San Jacinto Professional Office Building beside Methodist Hospital. The facility offers 18 000 square feet of space, 168 parking spots, and room for eight more doctors. Hospital additions include a fourth floor, new emergency rooms, a pharmacy and physical therapy unit with bids expected late 1967.
