Public School Week events are announced with invitations to visit schools. The Young Woman's Auxiliary meets at 6:30 p.m. at Miss Georgia Ann Currie's home to observe Annie Armstrong Week of Prayer.
Rescue teams arrived at the charred wreckage near Douala Cameroon to recover all on board the four engine DC 1 city lines. The craft carried 111 passengers and 10 crew including three hostesses. Passengers hailed from South Africa Rhodesia Mozambique and Europe with Britons and Dutch among the list. The disaster ranks as Africa s worst civilian air crash and narrowly lags behind a 1953 U S Air Force loss in Japan for the highest toll in a single plane crash. The flight had been chartered by Trans-African Airways.
Generally clear conditions persist through Tuesday with warmer temperatures. Galveston tides show high at 3 20 p m and 5 05 p m, with low tides at 10 08 a m and 10 28 p m.

Funeral services for Thomas John Henry Robertson 37 of 320% Garth Road will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Earthman Chapel with Rev. A E Weatherly officiating. He died 9 p.m. Saturday in a Houston hospital. Interment in San Jacinto Memorial Park Cemetery. Survived by widow Margaret Robertson and children Donald Glen, Ray Robertson, and Cheryl Jean Robertson. father J H Robertson of De La Porte. sisters and brothers including Wanda Robertson of La Porte and J T Robertson with the Navy. He owned the Corral J Cab on Decker Drive and was a World War II veteran.
L J Fentiman Baytown dockmaster at Humble Oil and Refining Co has been named general chairman of the Harris County American Cancer Society unit in Baytown for the 1962 April finance and education drive. He will lead preliminary organizing meetings at San Jacinto Memorial Hospital and oversee a county wide effort to place cancer prevention brochures with every family along with a house to house crusade to raise funds for treatment and research.
Incumbent Mayor H E Moor runs unopposed for re election in Anahuac. Three candidates vie for two alderman seats in the April 3 election at the City Auditorium. J C Dr Cote, Humble Oil employee, is new to the slate. Voting 7 am to 7 pm. election judges and clerks to be named at the board’s next meeting.
County Commissioner W W Ramsey urged all interested to attend a 10 am public hearing Tuesday at the Community Building. U S Corps of Engineers Galveston will discuss a proposed levee around Crystal Burnet and Scott bays to protect the mainland from Freeport to Galveston and toward Houston Ship Channel. Government officials and residents from La Porte Ke-mah Seabrook Texas City will participate as the project costs and rights of way are weighed.
Baytown voters face a lighter field for the April 3 city election with six candidates for three council seats. District candidates include Roy B. Waytes and incumbent Jack C. Haron, Ansley, Hughes, and Cravey seeking second two year terms. Election officials plan eight voting precincts, at large voting, and runoff possible April 28 if no majority. Mrs Ansley, first woman on the council, is noted. Cravey teaches at Horace Mann Junior High and others work in the refinery or engineering.
Washington AP dispatch reports Premier Khrushchev agreed to a ministers meeting next week and that Foreign Minister Gromyko will go to Geneva. US officials expect a preliminary session with Dean Rusk and Lord Home as Western powers push for tighter nuclear test inspections before any new Soviet tests. President Kennedy plans to resume atmospheric tests in late April unless a valid test ban is in place.
The Supreme Court affirms that a property owner near an airport may receive compensation when aircraft noise and vibration render the home unflyable. Aeronaut John H. Glenn resumes Mercury space work in Cape Canaveral after a week of parades and awards. A wave of 185 plastic bombs shakes Algiers in a new E.S.A.O. display of power. Democratic leaders push final action on pension welfare fund rules and jobless retention legislation. Kennedy says he will clear future remarks on Texas with Vice President Johnson. Texas endures ongoing violence with a rising death toll amid winter weather across the Midwest and nation.
Admiral Raborn named to a new naval role after decades leading the Polaris program. He will depart the post as chief of Naval Operations development and is succeeded by Rear Admiral Galatin. Raborn, often called the father of Polaris, has ties to Baytown and may pursue NASA work.
Five people were injured in a two car collision at 8 30 p m Sunday at Highway 1146 and Alexander Drive. Jack L White 43 of Pasadena suffered contusions of his right leg. Sidney A White 11 was treated for facial lacerations. John Thomas White 10 and Stephins White 14 were treated and released from San Jacinto Hospital for bruises and a head laceration. John A Blaha 19 of La Grange the other driver was treated for a scalp injury and released. Blaha faced aggravated motor vehicle charges in Justice of the Peace Walter Queen s court.

Motorists traveling from Baytown to Anahane and back face about six more months before the Turtle Bayou bridge on FM 208 between Liberty County and Anahane opens. Texas Highway Department inspector KR Skipper said bridge work has run three months and will need additional months to finish approaches and surfacing on FM 208 and Highway 61. A large International vehicle will be constructed at the FM 61 intersection. Some nearby road work may extend further into the future, with a short completed stretch near the Liberty city line. Detours advise travelers to stay on I 10 to State 61, then south to Anahane.

G Moore a pioneer Bay town merchant died suddenly Monday after being stricken at work. He passed away before reaching a hospital shortly after noon, leaving a gap in local business circles.
