Birdie and George McCauley marked 70 years of marriage at Allenbrook Healthcare Center with about 100 relatives and friends in attendance. Their large family includes six children, 24 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. The couple met in January 1902 after teaching and working in Hollis, Oklahoma, and spent 20 years in Wellington, Texas, building a life together amid memories of dating, dancing, and skating.
