Mont Belvieu Notes Elects 1973 Fire Department Officers
Barbers Hill Volunteer Fire Department elected new officers for 1973 led by W Q Wallace Jr as president and Woodrow Carroll as vice president. The unit also adopted new communications gear linking with area hospitals and Baytown Emergency Community System. Scott Hess, son of Alvin and Mrs. Hess, reported to Zweibrucken AFB Germany for a two year stint and was promoted to sergeant while sister David Hess prepares for Saigon transfer. School election filing and voting schedule announced
Board President Richard Johnson Joe Blythe and M Q Bradford are the only three files to date as Supt B J Billy Farmer said. Candidates have until March to file at the high school administration office. Absentee voting runs March 18 to April 3 from 8 am to 4 pm in the board room. Absentee clerks are Mrs J Cotten and Mrs J Grimes. Election judges Gus Dauzat and Mrs Helen Leonard will supervise voting from 7 am to 7 pm at the Beach City Community Building and the high school with clerks to be selected.

She died in a traffic accident near Sealy Wednesday morning. Injured were her brother in law and sister Mr and Mrs Grady S. Simmons in Ace and an Exxon retiree formerly of Baytown.
