Beach City Council approves balanced budget amid rainy day fund
Beach City Council approved a balanced 119000 budget with about 45000 to both the Beach City Volunteer Fire Department and EMS. Administrative costs mainly cover the city secretary’s salary while 10 streetlights will be funded and no taxes are imposed. The rainy day fund stands at roughly 575000 after annual additions of 30000 to 35000. Mayor Guido Persiani noted the funds could support a future water quality project but would not cover it alone. Environmental complaints log items, mostly septic tanks from abandoned properties, were discussed as nonongoing concerns. Beach City lies southeast of Baytown along FM 2354 with about 1700 residents.
