Lawsuit against city dismissed in 2012 crash case
The 127th Judicial District Court granted summary judgment and a plea to the jurisdiction in a wrongful death suit filed by the families of Shawn Williams Jr. and Shay Hollingshead against the City of Baytown over a 2012 fiery crash. City spokesman Patti Jett said the case is being allowed to proceed by the judicial system and prayers are with the families. Further details appear on page 10.

Professor urges removal of San Jacinto Waste Pits in report
Texas A M University professor and co author of the Ike Dike says a hurricane and surge could spread toxic waste from the San Jacinto Waste Pits if not fully removed. Man robbed near driveway and ATM spree described
A 55-year-old man reported a robbery at about 4 30 a m Wednesday as he prepared to drive to work. The attacker emerged from bushes, stole his wallet and checkbook, bound him with duct tape, and forced him into the back seat. The assailant used the victim’s cards at ATMs and warned him to wait before removing the tape. Police noted a prior 2012 robbery by a stocky camouflaged man about 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Car Show and Poker Run Benefit Beach City Fire Dept
The Barrow Ranch Home Owners Association hosts a 2 PM car show at McCollum Park Beach City and a 5 PM poker run starting at 14726 Stablebrook Drive Barrow Ranch Subdivision. Barbers Hill Honors John Hall With New Road Name
Barbers Hill ISD renamed an unnamed street connecting to Wilburn Ranch Road as John Hall Drive to honor longtime teacher principal John Lee Hall who died last June at 79. Hall, known as Jackie, served BHISD for years and helped lead bond campaigns and school initiatives.
