Baytown’s Texas history figures and enduring ties
Wanda Orton notes Baytown’s ties to Texas legend Sam Houston and lesser known contributors. Christian Smith rescued Jane Long, Dr Harvey Whiting aided the revolution era, Moseley Baker bred Evergreen and helped found Cedar Bayou Methodist Church, Amassas Turner defended Burnet, David Kokernot chased Tories, Humphrey Jackson governed Crosby, and Nathaniel Lynch founded Lynchburg.
