Beating trial ends in hung jury in Powell case
A Harris County jury failed to reach a verdict on whether Joshua Ashford 19 murdered 18-year-old Kevin Powell in Baytown. The six-man six-woman jury was deadlocked 10-2 for conviction after deliberations that began Friday and led Judge Herb Ritchie to declare a mistrial. Prosecutors will decide whether to retry. Ashford’s defense suggested a possible plea offer.
