Sprague employed by L. J. Fuller Inc was on top of an oil storage tank being moved across Causeway Road near Goose Creek. He raised wires with a stick to avoid breaking them as the tank passed, apparently ducking and triggering a near fatal incident. Billy Ainsworth and Patrolman Charlie Cowan gave artificial respiration and medical aid until Sprague regained consciousness after 20 minutes. He was hospitalized for heat stroke previously and could not recall last week. The survivor said the Lord must be with me and hoped for no more close calls.

Thomas predicts automatic sale approval for Baytown plant
In Washington Congressman Albert Thomas said the United Carbon purchase of the Baytown synthetic rubber plant will go through by default on July 10 unless disapproved by Congress. The contract totals about 8.44 million dollars including price, raw materials, inventories, and feedstocks. United Carbon, based in Charleston West Virginia, is set to take over the plant July 25 as production had been under 43 000 tons annually, with 44 000 ton capacity.
