Baytown Area Water Authority directors suspend a contract with Pyron Inc citing annexation options. An irrevocable letter of credit pledges about 356,700 in buy in costs due June 7, with payment suspended to December 31, 1986 to allow further annexation exploration. Houston attorney Roger Bridgewater is expected to be named Thursday to represent 16 year old Joseph Fordham charged with murder in the death of 11 year old Mary Stiles. District Judge William Wayne Justice in Tyler will hear a proposed out of court settlement to extend unemployment benefits to aliens and refugees in Texas. The agreement could affect about 1,500 previously denied applicants including refugees, aliens admitted, deferred departures, asylum seekers, Cuban or Haitian status pending, and certain visa holders.
A three evening free conference sponsored by Lee College and the U S Small Business Administration runs June 25 to 27 in Baytown.
