Lee College president named finalist for Tulsa post

Martha Ellis, president of Lee College, is one of two finalists for Tulsa Community College president. The search committee selected Ellis and Thomas McKeon after interviews at four campuses. The decision is expected by June 29. Ellis said she has not decided on an offer, and two regent members will visit Lee College next week.

Baytown cop faces internal and criminal probe over alleged assault

A woman alleged Baytown Police Officer Mark Smith assaulted her and used his badge to request sexual favors. Internal Affairs Chief Lisa Rynearson said the May 24 incident at Camden Apartments on West Baker Road prompted both an internal and criminal investigation begun June 4.

Bicentennial Park summer concert series announced in Baytown

Baytown kicks off five summer concerts at Bicentennial Park from 5:30 to 9 p.m. except July 4. Highlands man pleads guilty in Idaho cousin identity case

James G. Barberi 37 pleaded guilty to a felony fraud charge and was sentenced to one year in state jail after Baytown police traced him to a Highlands motel room. An Idaho cousin Lonny Barr of Boise had filed the initial complaint May 26, with authorities finding passes and documents in Barr’s name at Barberi’s room.

College ministers forum aims to boost regional education

Lee College partnered with area pastors to promote higher education. A minister’s breakfast at Moser Hall drew eight churches and associations from the district for campus information and guidance led by Jane Brody of the Educational Opportunity Center.
