Goose Creek CISD invites the community to a June 20 reception honoring retiring Superintendent Dr. Toby York at the Administrative Building from 4 to 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served. York will retire July 31 after 11 years as superintendent and 37 total years in education.

Baytown officials and Chevron Phillips Chemical executives gathered at the Cedar Bayou plant on Interstate 10 to mark a groundbreaking for an l hexene plant planned for completion in 2014. The event highlighted community involvement and job creation, with 200-250 construction roles and 14 long term positions projected, and noted the expansion as the facility’s first in over a decade.
