Regional water planning mixed blessing in Texas regions
Regional planning, led by LCRA, shows differences between Region H and Region K. Region K spans 14 counties from Central Texas to Matagorda, prioritizes supply, conservation, and off-channel reservoirs. In droughts LCRA cuts interruptible rice farming water, prompting concerns about rice yields, wetlands, and wildlife, while SB 1631 loomed as a potential shift in water-use rules.
