Rufus Honeycust heads out for Anahuac on a business trip. Kenneth Good of The Sun Advertising Department is a patient at Baytown Hospital and may be dismissed Tuesday. Frank Hruby also a patient, reported improving. Arthur Chasnoff goes on a mercy mission. Blue Beathard, former Sun editor, was a brief Baytown visitor. his wife Dickie and son Trey visiting Beathard's relatives in Houston. Paul Anderson helps a friend. R C Stephenson visits downtown. Honolulu AP reports that leading U S mayors pledged support for President Kennedy's five-point program to reduce urban racial tension. Mayor Wagner of New York called it a real challenge and vowed to help adopt a resolution, while Chicago's Daley Detroit's Cavanagh and Pittsburgh's Barr approved. Cavanagh called civil rights the nation's most critical problem. The mayors invited biracial committees, urged constitutional municipal actions, and pressed anti discrimination in hiring and housing. Kennedy urged peaceful progress and urged cities to bolster education and opportunity to reduce unemployment among unskilled workers.
