Rainfall also cooled temperatures from 90 to 57 in Baytown as more rain predicted for Texas.

Vote Set Saturday On Water District Split
The oldest Harrig county fresh water district seeks to divide into two districts west and east of the San Jacinto River canal. A special Texas Legislature act authorizes the district board of Supervisors to call the election, with voting limited to residents of each proposed district. In Canberra the Australian House of Representatives sentenced two newspapermen, owner Raymond Fitzpatrick and reporter Frank Browne, to three months in jail for attempting to blackmail Labor MP Charles Morgan. Baytown Polio Case Reported in 4-Year-Old Girl
Four-year-old Marsha Kay Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. W. Walker of 1613 Hawthorne, Baytown, has been admitted to Texas Crippled Children's Hospital in Houston with polio. Doctors say the case is non-paralytic but she cannot move her head without moving her body. This is the second polio case in Baytown this year, following five-year-old Patrick Boullion of 2623 Highway 146 who was also taken to Texas Children's Hospital. his diagnosis is paralytic.
