Enjay Chemical Expands At Baytown Plant
Rodf Grandy, manager of the Enjay Chemical Co Baytown plant, told the Baytown Chamber of Commerce the business has grown about 15 percent yearly since 1966. The plant employs about 90 full time staff with a total payroll around 12 million annually, plus roughly 900 supporting workers. Enjay spent over 70 million in Baytown last year to produce products and build needed facilities, with local taxes near 2 million and school taxes exceeding 1 million. The company operates in chemical raw materials plastics and synthetic rubber, supplying ethylene paraxylene orthoxylene and benzene used to make film fibers vinyl and other materials. Butyl rubber, used in most U.S. inner tubes, is produced at Baytown. (See ENJAY, Page 2)

Sheriff’s Aviation Division Opens Air Base at Humphrey Airport
The Harris County Sheriff’s Department aviation unit has set up an air base at Humphrey Airport on Barkaloo Road, led by Capt. Mike McCray and Lt. Mickey Cohen with 42 reserve deputies.
