Community gospel concert kicks off McNair homecoming weekend
At J D Walker Community Center on Wade Road a gospel music event features six performers including a praise team soloists and gospel comedian Roslynn Guyton. The show promotes area singers and supports McNair’s first homecoming tied to Juneteenth on June 15. Francine Etheridge organized the events with the McNair Homecoming Committee which plans to honor four longtime residents and award a school scholarship.

Man arrested after 134 grams crystal meth found
Baytown police detained 32 year old Christopher Arellano after a license plate check tied him to a black Dodge at a gas station on Interstate 10. A Harris County parole violation warrant and possession of a controlled substance charge led to custody. A pistol and a baggie of brown meth were recovered from the vehicle.

Groundbreaking Held for Sjolander Road Widening Project
County city and Chevon Phillips Chemical Co officials gathered Wednesday for the formal groundbreaking to widen Sjolander Road from Interstate 10 to Wallisville Road. The two-lane road will be rebuilt as a five-lane route with a center turn lane, and the section north of the freeway will close Monday for most of the summer as work proceeds toward completion.
