Baytown Council OKs aquatics plan with private options debated
City leaders weighed keeping a public aquatics system funded by 6 million from the Municipal Development District and 9.3 million from a bond election versus private redevelopment. Some council members warned against scrapping the agreed plan while others argued private investment could speed improvements. The project includes a multi slide park with a FlowRider and mat racer, plus a neighborhood pool at N C Foote Park and three spray parks. The council approved the plan 5-1, with Mahan dissenting.
