Hearing Sways Colorado River Water Use Debate
Residents from Mata gorda County and nearby areas urge tighter scrutiny of the Colorado River water allotment at the Texas Water Development Board hearing in Texas City. They contend current plans overestimate supply, risk agricultural needs, and limit industrial growth, citing Celanese plants and past droughts as proof. The Bay City area notes losses while downstream districts fear long-term shortages until alternate sources are ready.
