Baytown Officials Seek Lower Key Fire Insurance Rate
Baytown officials including City Manager C. D. Middleton Public Works Director C. W. Grantham and Fire Chief Art Lintelman traveled to Austin on Wednesday to urge the Texas Fire Insurance Commission to cut the Key fire insurance rate. They planned to present evidence of Baytown improvements such as new water fines and a drill tower for firefighters. The current Key rate is 46 cents with policy holders paying 23 cents per year per $1,000 of insurance. The city seeks a first class rate of 40 cents or 20 cents to the policy holder.
