Flamingos raise funds for Baytown literacy foundation
Pink flamingos appear in Baytown yards to support the Monica Boyd Literacy Foundation. The group partners with Lee College and Sylvan Learning Centers to identify and assist elementary and middle school students reading below grade level. Monica Boyd, who learned to read via Baytown libraries, started the program to help others avoid her past struggles. Funds underwrite Sylvan tutoring for families unable to afford it. To order flamingos, call Scott Sheley or Gordon Ginzel.
