James D. Skelly a 54 year old Baytown garage operator charged with murder in the death of his wife Mrs Olive Aud rey Skelly was released from Baytown jail on a 7500 bond at 640 pm Wednesday The bond was posted by Skellys attorney Ervin Flowers of Baytown and the case has been referred directly to the Harris County Grand Jury after an autopsy showed Mrs Skelly died of a head injury
A 21 year old Beaumont man, James Edward Rico, was seriously injured at 12 10 a m Thursday when he went to sleep and lost control of his car on Tri City Beach Road 150 yards south of the East Texas Avenue intersection. Rico’s car crashed into a ditch. He was taken to Gulf Coast Hospital with six broken ribs, a ruptured spleen, contusions and abrasions. He was admitted for treatment. No charges have been filed.
In Algiers the provisional Ben Khedda government shows no sign of power as Ben Bella loyalists move to seize control. Mohamed Khidder will head to Algiers to assess the situation. Clashes erupt in Constantine and Bône as forces battle for supremacy, while Kabylie remains a focal point of resistance.
NASA invites 11 firms to submit designs for off shot landing craft for moon missions. Proposals due by September. Firms include Lockheed, Boeing, Northrop, Temco-Vought, Grumman, Douglas, General Dynamics, Republic Aviation, Martin, Marietta, North American, and McDonnell Aircraft.

Survivors include husband Danny Bashrum of Alexandria, two sons Lucky Odom and Bobby Odom, daughter Mrs Jerry Griffith, parents Frank and Mrs Jurica, brother W Murray, seven grandchildren. Mrs Brashrum moved to Alexandria about a year ago after years in Baytown. The Rev B B Chandler will officiate.
Thunderstorms across Texas dropped record rain from the Upper Pecos Valley to North Central Texas. Dallas, Weatherford, and Dallas County towns reported multiple inches, with Weatherford and Dallas churches and a hospital transformer damaged by lightning. Homes flooded in low-lying areas, and a concrete roof collapse caused property losses in Dallas.

Lee College will administer all three parts of the GED test July 30 to Aug 1 for a high school equivalency certificate issued by the Texas Education Agency. Baytown Police issued a statewide alert for Patsy Kay Hightower fourteen and Nancy Sue Spell twelve reported missing after a church social Tuesday night. Parents searched starting 10 p m and reported them missing at 12 21 a m Wednesday. Patsy Kay is daughter of Cecil and Ma Hightower of 405 TE Jack contact 582 2790 Nancy Sue is daughter of Spell of 322 £ Jack contact 387 and was last seen after 10 p m Tuesday crossing Highway 116 near James Street. Nancy Sue is about five feet tall, weighs 100 pounds with medium red hair freckles and blue eyes. Patsy Kay is five feet three inches, 115 pounds with light brown hair and blue green eyes. She wore a bright orange skirt and a white medic style blouse.
