The Baytown Track Club and Chambers County Historical Commission announce the museum will close for a couple of weeks for updates. Details and reopening date provided on page three.
A property valued at five thousand dollars was reported stolen during the weekend and details are continued on page three.
Three men ages 19 32 and 39 invited a prostitute to their Baytown apartment at 2300 Taft Circle about 2 a.m. The woman arrived with a man who produced a handgun and robbed them of wallets and cell phones. Baytown Historical Preservation Association announces the ninth annual Cowboy Supper on Saturday August 11 in the Fellowship Hall of Wooster Baptist Church at 2007 Bayway Dr. Doors open at 6 p.m. attendees urged to bring appetites for a Hickory smoked menu and entertainment.
A Baytown Starbucks at 4557 Garth Road will hold a 6 to 8 p.m. silent auction Thursday with 60 to 70 donated works from Baytown artists and artisans. Proceeds benefit the Art League of Baytown and its weekly art classes for mentally challenged adults, with items from the Art League, Baytown Photo Club and Starbucks staff.
A 3 week old homeless child was passed around an apartment complex for days before Baytown police allowed Bernadette Peterson a 62 year old grandmother to keep the baby. The child is now with Peterson and the infant’s mother remains under investigation for her lifestyle. Police say the baby’s birth certificate shows only her last name and background checks on the guardian were clear. Liberty County police were notified to check on other children.
Raymond Edwards reports dumping of tree limbs and debris on Goose Creek CISD property across from his Lee Drive home. An unlabeled drum with liquid and an oil derrick surrounded by stained soil prompted a multi agency response including GCCISD Baytown Police Fire and HAZMAT. The Baytown Fire HAZMAT unit found no oil leak during a July 24 inspection and will file a routine report to the General Land Office. The source notes drums ownership remains unresolved with details to be continued on page 8.
