Obama apologizes for ill chosen words in Gates incident
President Obama acknowledged he used unfortunate phrasing when saying Cambridge officers acted stupidly about Henry Louis Gates Jr. He called Gates and Lt. Crowley, invited them to a White House beer, and said he could have calibrated his words differently. He defended the arrest as overreaction by police.
