Trustees To Reconsider Secretaries Pay Hike
Mrs Karl W Opryshek school board president will ask trustees next Monday night to reconsider a recent six per cent salary increase granted school secretaries and clerical employees on new information from the Baytown Educational Secretaries Association. She says inequities exist since other groups receive 11 to 12 per cent raises for 1969 70 and that salary administration should be clarified to the secretarial group. Members noting the lack of copies of the salary scale and a change in beginning secretary classifications were discussed at a Tuesday association meeting.

Baytown Soldier Ronald Wilder Killed in Vietnam
Baytown resident Platoon Sergeant Ronald Fredrick Wilder, 23, was killed in Vietnam on a patrol near Da Nang. He married Linda Denise Alston in December 1967 after enlisting in 1967. Wilder attended Fort Polk and Fort Benning before being deployed in October 1968. his family, including his wife and parents, confirmed the loss early Thursday.

Survey Underway On Baytown Employment Office
Homer Jackson, district director of the Texas Employment Commission, said a survey is underway to determine if Baytown needs a full time employment agency. A Pasadena office manager will visit to assess feasibility. Currently TEC staff come weekly to Baytown to handle unemployment claims at WOW Hall on East Texas Avenue. The full time Baytown office closed May 1, 1962, after serving in the 100 block of East Texas with John Durham as manager. Durham now heads TEC insurance in Houston. The Pasadena TEC office at 1724 S. Richey has served Baytown since the closure.
