College to buy vacant building for 500000 and safety review
In March the college board of regents approved purchasing a long vacant late 1960s building from a credit union for 500000 plus about 4000 in closing costs. The plan is to house administration staff while Rundell Hall’s fate remains undecided under the master plan. An asbestos survey dated March 1 2005 found asbestos in some areas, with other materials such as fiberglass and cellulose. Remodeling began in June with wall demolition and duct work, triggering permit questions from city officials and a surprise health department inspection on June 22 seeking the asbestos survey.
