Indian Tomb From 1100 AD Found In West Texas

A well preserved skeleton from about 1100 A D was found in Paln Duro Canyon in the Texas Panhandle. Archaeologists call the burial vault an outstanding discovery of extreme importance. The site lies on a rugged cliff side near rattlesnakes. Jim Sorenson of Six Gun City notified authorities after uncovering the vault. The skeleton wore a breastplate with a clam shell and clink knife remains suggest a deer hunt. The man is believed to be a chief or counselor of a migrating tribe, about 25 years old with a flawless dentition. Weaving remnants in the crypt include hair, cotton, and wool.

Banks Urge Baytonians to Exchange Coins

Baytown banks appeal for coin exchange due to a national coin shortage. Knife Wielder Charged Stebbings Here Put Three In Hospital

Baytown men were hospitalized after a tavern knife attack at Christer's Fishing Camp on Tri City Beach Road. Myron Douglass Sicko, 40, in critical condition. Albert Edward McDonald, 41, charged with assault with intent to murder and aggravated assault for knifing Sicko and Raymond Fayle, 56. McDonald posted bonds totaling 2,700 and is represented by Little and Zam law firm. Deputy Gillespie reported Sicko suffered multiple stab wounds, Fayle a single shoulder wound. Mass also injured. Transient 38 Injured in Auto Crash Near Baytown Tunnel

Joseph William Dionne, 38, was injured when struck by a car on Spur 201 near the Baytown La Porte Tunnel at 7 am Friday. Taken to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital, then to Veterans Hospital in Houston. He suffered chest and facial abrasions and possible chest injuries. Officer A W Hens stated Dionne was returning home to Pelham NH. He had just exited a pickup when he ran into a vehicle driven by Farris K Foster. Charges were filed.

Robber Holds Up Wells State Bank in Texas

A gunman described as about 21, tall with curly hair robbed the Wells state bank at Wells Texas, abducted cashier Robert Newkyal. He fled in a Chevrolet truck loaded with feed sacks, wearing a short sleeve blue shirt.

Baytown YMCA Reaches 72 Per Cent Of its Goal

The Baytown YMCA reports 72 percent of its goal in the Harris County Development Campaign. Drive chair John C Echols Jr says Baytown will reach the target with a few days left.
