Mrs. Mary Kennedy Owings, 39, wife of a Baytown city employee, died in a crash eight miles east of Lubbock after the car went out of control at Farm Road 400. Her husband James Owings, 62, is in serious condition at Lubbock Methodist Hospital. The couple, en route to Post for a family reunion, were in the car when it overturned and struck a culvert. Services planned for Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Post.
