Discard or Ruff Plan in Four Spades Play

Declarer faces overcall in hearts and must decide between ruffing or discarding. The recommended line trades an early dangerous ruff for a late safe ruff by discarding dummy s diamond loser at trick three, then ruffing later in another suit to avoid East overruff. If overruff threat appears, discard the inevitable loser from the shorter trump hand and seek a safe late ruff.
