Public Meet Set Thursday on Beach City annexation
Beach City City Council plans a 7 39 p m public hearing Thursday to consider annexing a strip between Tri City Beach Road and Trinity Bay adding about two miles to the city limits and including McCollum Parc in West Chambers County. The request, signed by a majority of residents, may conflict with a Baytown agreement allowing incorporation only with Baytown consent. Baytown previously annexed nearby land and held extraterritorial jurisdiction within two miles. Beach City, incorporated in 1966, has about 350 residents, though many nearby homes are summer residences for Baytown and Houston people. The proposed area is mainly permanent homes and the city taxes are currently zero. Boundaries run along Triity Beach Road, with the bay on the edge.
