Baytown Boy Renews Navy Draft Ambitions After Induction Mixup
Darian Barker, 19, son of Donald and Baytown residents, faced a military induction mixup when a civilian doctor cleared him as permanently not qualified, yet a military doctor later reversed this finding. He had attempted Navy enlistment previously for ulcerated colon, attended Tee College, and is a 1991 Robert E. Lee High School graduate. After initial processing he believed he would not be called, but a July notice showed acceptance. His father and he sought clarification from the Houston Induction Center and Navy officials. Nearby items note a Baytown Rotary Club report, weather outlook, and corrected photo captions for local sports winners.
