Bridges on Highway 73 near Anahuac were dedicated Saturday with speeches by Chambers County Judge Floyd Williams and Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce president Henry Mills. The principal speaker was Er in Thornton of Galveston, chairman of the State Highway Commission, introduced by Herbert Perry Jr. Local attendees included W. T. Busch and Nelson McIlroy. A barbecue lunch followed the ceremony.

Carter Recovering Nicely After Operation For Bleeding
Ray Carter, 16, Baytown youth, remains hospitalized in Houston after a broken neck from a Lake Garner Park accident near Uvalde on June 7. He developed a serious stomach ulcer from shock and underwent surgery to stop hemorrhaging. his neck injury is improving. A benefit supper to aid Carter’s hospital expenses and arrangements is scheduled at Rebel Inn on Market Street in West Baytown from 5 to 8 pm Monday, with tickets at 1.50 dollars.
