Heavy rains eased but Brazos River floodwaters keep up a dangerous sweep for 6-year-old Cesar Aparicio swept from Bryan Beach. Freeport police and fire crews used helicopters and boats in a four day search, with 25 to 30 rescuers daily and a river at 47 feet four feet above flood stage pushing debris toward the Gulf. Authorities said little hope remained for the child’s survival as currents carried belongings and possibly the boy far into the Gulf.
