Linus water crisis called inhuman by Cruz

State Rep. Laura Cruz of Houston called Linus water shortages inhumane and unhealthy and pledged to consult with the attorney general about possible action. He met with about 50 residents on Tuesday night and planned a county judge visit with a Linus delegation. A committee led by Clementi Munoz and Martin Hernandez will set the meeting with Judge Bill Elliott. County District Won't Commit Hospital Funds Until Criteria Set

The Harris County Hospital District will not commit $47,000 in budgeted funds for Baytown health clinics until its satellite clinic committee receives written criteria for clinics from its medical consultant Dr. Carlos Vallbona. Don Horn, a committee member, said the panel awaits the criteria before reconvening community groups to decide between San Jacinto Methodist Hospital’s charity outpatient clinic and the Baytown Health League proposal. San Jacinto seeks a decision by Thursday. the Health League asks for July 14 amid Community Chest hearings.

Bird bath theft jolts Baytown resident

J C Sheffield of 901 Woodlawn reported to Baytown Police Tuesday that a hefty bird bath was stolen from his yard after a vacation. Officer R G Craig investigated, noting the only wingless bird in Baytown capable of such a heist. The loss was estimated at 75 dollars.

Abandoned Cars Complaints Headache for Baytown Police

Baytown police face growing problems with abandoned junk cars cluttering neighborhoods and delaying removal. In June 67 complaints arrived, with storage at a West Main Goose Creek lot lacking night security and adequate staffing. Vehicles can be held 96 days, with owners sought through Texas DPS.
