Dispute over 23000 acre oyster lease escalates in Texas
The Galveston Bay dispute over a 23,000 acre oyster lease intensifies at the Chambers-Liberty Counties Navigation District meeting. Tracy Woody and Ben Nelson say the lease protects and grows oysters, while several oyster business owners and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department deem it illegal and a bid to monopolize the bay’s industry. Clifford Hillman and Michael Ivic criticize the arrangement as harmful to natural resources and unjust to rightful owners.
