Bicentennial Park Aided Baytown Fourth Of July Growth
Wanda Orton recalls Baytown’s July 4 celebrations evolving from a single neighborhood park to a citywide event. The 1970s Bicentennial Commission spurred Bicentennial Park creation, the Bay Area Heritage Society, and the Baytown Historical Museum with Kiwanis support for a War Memorial. Community leaders and Goose Creek ISD donated land, while parks and recreation expanded citywide.
