Mr and Mrs J L McKinney of 1714 Massey Tompkins Road will leave Baytown Feb 2 to travel to California to be beside their son Homer L McKinney a Navy man wounded in Vietnam in December He was aboard an Air Force carrier C41 near Da Nang when his vehicle struck a mine He suffered eye and ear injuries and shrapnel wounds with two feet broken He is at Camp Pendleton awaiting medical leave and possible eye surgery His sister Ruby Horn said he has triple vision in his left eye and may need further treatment He attended Cedar Bayou school and enlisted at 17 He has a brother Leonard in Baytown

Two Hinkle brothers held in Houston officer slaying
In New Orleans AP report, brothers William Glenn Hinkle and Kenneth Hinkle, both 38, were arrested by the FBI in a parking lot and held in county jail after being linked to the slaying of Houston police officer Louis Sander, 24. They face prior charges of interstate transportation of a stolen car tied to a Little Rock theft. A 400-strong officer honor guard attended Sander's burial as his widow awaited the couple's second child.

Funeral services for Minnie Mae Gray widow of Rev. Thomas A. Gray will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Paul A. Lee Chapel. Gray 69 was born March 2 1837 in Batesville Miss and moved to Baytown in 1939. Survivors include a son and daughter in law Barney Gray and wife in Baytown four sisters and two brothers. Graveside services will follow at Conroe Memorial Cemetery. Also services for Henry Andrew Menette will be held at Earthman Chapel with burial at Good Cemetery Willis.

Tokyo AP reports Defense Minister Lin Piao acknowledged the Red Guard forces are outnumbered. The Liberation Army Daily said Mao’s forces are a temporary minority as Mao called for military aid. Reports say Maoist groups seized Shansi, Taiyuan, and Changsha barracks and offices amid clashes with the army, with casualties among six soldiers and six Maoists.

The first stage will produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide costing over 1 million dollars and highly automate hiring few workers.
