Baytown Wins Big In Name Change And Charter Vote
Voters on Saturday approved a new city charter by 1,888 to 254 and adopted a name change from Pelly to Baytown by a large margin. Pelly residents backed the charter 183 to 108, with Precinct 149 in Baytown showing the strongest support. Goose Creek Precinct 100 produced the largest total, 564 ballots, for the charter despite mixed results elsewhere. City commissioners will canvass the votes tonight.
