Baytown honors Max Brown a farmer and rancher who died of a cerebral hemorrhage in a Baytown hospital. Funeral set 2 p.m. Saturday at Paul A. Je Je Chapel with Rev. Clyder Thomas and Rev. Elza Love officiating. Burial in Memory Gardens of Baytown Cemetery. Brown born in Ute Iowa moved to Baytown area in 1900 and farmed rice and raised cattle around Baytown Cros Boyd and Mont Belvieu. He belonged to Cedar Bayou Methodist Church and Cedar Bayou Lodge No 321 AF&AM and was active in civic groups.

Baytown OKs Bids for East District Sewage Plant Expansion

Baytown City Council approved advertising for bids to expand the East District sewage treatment plant from one to three million gallons daily. The Cedar Bayou Stream facility, built in 1967 with bond funds, will have major facility modifications as renovations proceed. Federal funding had been awarded but tied to new infiltration abatement standards, prompting reductions in permitted flow from sixteen to nine million gallons daily.

Plans To Aid Deaf Children Explained

Representatives from five districts attended a Thursday meeting on a cooperative program to provide full state funded deaf education. Gulf Coast Region officials outlined regional divisions, with 13 counties and 89 districts, totaling about 1,400 students. About 300 children with impaired hearing may currently receive no special education services.
