Heirs of Drs. Herbert H. Duke Sr and Gordon A. Lillie donate Lillie Duke Hospital on West Pearce Avenue to San Jacinto Methodist, to be used as an annex. Initially for storage, later potential for extended care, outpatient services, or education in cooperation with San Jacinto and Lee College. Dr. George Fleming notes possible hospital program links. hospital closed in 1966 when Duke moved to the San Jacinto Professional Building. The gift includes Mrs. H H Duke Jr., Mrs. Donald L. Brunson, and Dr. Gordon V Lillie, with roots tracing to early Baytown clinics and connections to Pawnee Bill lineage.
