Exxon Baytown machinists threaten 35 year first strike
Hector Meza president of Local 1051 says Exxon Baytown Baytown refinery and Chemical Plant machinists will strike if no wage settlement is reached after negotiations since December. The union seeks 1.50 an hour plus a cost of living clause and 14 cents for retroactive as cost of living, plus hospitalization above the company offer of 10 percent raise. The three unions are in federal mediation with Gulf Coast Industrial Union and IBEW.
