Baytown approves firearms rules expanding carry on city property
The Baytown City Council approved new rules about firearms on city property at its meeting, expanding places a person can carry a concealed weapon and limiting open carry while creating broad prohibitions on long guns. The rules follow a state law allowing open carry and reference Texas Attorney General rulings as non binding but followed. Weapons cannot be prohibited in public municipal facilities open to all, though open meetings and restricted access offices may ban weapons. The state law bans weapons in courts.
