Yarborough weighs governor race decision in Texas
Bor Yarborough, the liberal Democrat and Hurston lawyer, is considering another run for governor. He asked friends to write in and help him decide. Bond issues proposed include 1 million for courthouse and jail, 100 thousand for hospital improvements, and 500 thousand for highway rights of way and parksites. Road funds would upgrade Chambers County roads for 10–15 years, build a new road to Barbers Hill High, and relocate Needle Point Road with an underpass. The bond issues require a two thirds majority. 10 percent locally funded, 90 percent by outsiders. The county would bear 410 thousand dollars after costs. Various polling places and election judges listed for Petitions and local canvassing crews, with a special absentee-count board in Anahuac.
