In Johnson City Texas Don Daval canceled plans to bulld a mute across the road from the LEA Ranch after opposition. He had obtained an option on six acres opposite President Johnsons ranch adjoining the states new Lynnon Bi Johnson Park. Daval said there was no point in buying land and then having it condemned though he expected the state to take the six acres if necessary to obtain the land.
San Jacinto Methodist opens its new intensive care unit with eight beds and a nurses station. The unit features three two three bed cubicles and one two bed area designed for patient privacy, with oxygen and suction access at each bed. A team of registered nurses provides care without private duty staff, and direct admission from emergency or surgical recovery is possible.
Wanda Ort on reports School Superintendent George H. Gentry testified at a public hearing at Robert E. Lee High School about attempts to streamline and modernize the district business office. He said funds, space, and guidance were lacking to hire a data processing systems man, despite a board move in October 1963 approving a long range data processing program. The hearing, in its seventh session, aimed to resolve charges from a board majority seeking to terminate his contract.
