The Los Angeles Chargers spoiled Tennessee's postseason bid with a 17-6 victory. Chargers broke through late in the second half to deny Titans a landmark win, ending a 13 year postseason drought for Tennessee.
Baytown LSU supporter Al Richard, a season-ticket holder, will not attend tonight’s game. He will host a welcome party for Goose Creek Memorial’s newly hired head coach Bret Boyd.
The City of Baytown Street and Drainage Division will collect natural Christmas trees from today through Thursday and again January 14 through 17. Place trees curbside by 8 a.m. for one pass. Baytown area students return to class as Bowie Elementary debuts its 850-student replacement campus beside the old site on Mockingbird. Superintendent Barbara Sultis lauds the transition and staff, while Principal Ginger McKay earns praise for guiding the move. Delays may occur as front drive handles buses and cars during the busy first days.
Local residents can buy tickets for the 21st Red Stocking Revue presented by the Baytown Junior Forum. Shows set for February 15 and 16 at Lee High School Auditorium start at 7 p.m. Volunteer or performer signups begin January 17 at San Jacinto Mall Marshall's wing. Led by Becky Lundquist and director Jim Wadzinski the revue features singing dancing and a Baytown twist on Gunsmoke.

State officials had just taken over execution duties from county sheriffs. The chair would be used for over 360 executions in the following half century.

Forty-two executions occurred in 2007, the year's lowest total in 13 years. New Jersey abolished the death penalty last month, and justices return to hear Kentucky's lethal injection case, likely focusing on procedure rather than capital punishment itself.
