Daytime TV Strategies Split Between Soapies and Games
TV columnist notes two network theories for daytime fare. CBS favors soap operas with reruns, NBC leans toward eight parts game shows and four parts serials. Despite variety, most networks run only the game show or soap on weekday hours, with Eye Guess replacing Fractured Phrases and Concentration continuing. News bulletins interrupt programs during the New York transit strike and LA disturbances, while Art Linkletter's Talent Scouts and Pearl Bailey appearances highlight the era's variety programming.
