Miracle Church Building Opens After Large Funds Lift
Evangel Temple at 2315 W Main, once poor with no money, opened a new $105000 church building in February 1971 built by volunteers. Indebtedness dropped to $15000 after raising $87000 from June to November 1970. Pastor Manuel McKnight calls the project a miracle, noting 25 to 250 weekly attendees, sometimes 450 to 500, and a plan for a two story annex and 2000 seat auditorium in 1972. A deaf ministry and healing testimony strengthen the faith driven revival in Baytown per the Assembly of God.”
