Landing Party Seeks Six More Survivors
SEATTLE Seattle Feb 16 A 23 man landing party trudged through snow seeking six remaining survivors of 17 crewmen who bailed from a crippled B36. Ten airmen were rescued by a fishing boat and flown to McChord Air Force Base. Staff Sergeant Vitsie Trippodi 23 Brooklyn was rescued after dangling by an ankle for 12 hours in a tree on a cliff edge. He was brought out by a rescue party and to the destroyer Cayuga then to McChord with a doctor. The other six survivors are believed three miles inland along a three mile area. The missing were among 17 aboard the B36 whose engines failed and sent a distress signal near Lonely Princess Revali Island about 436 miles northwest of Seattle.
